How We Find Deals

Transparent methodology — what we include, what we exclude, and why.

Sources

Slickdeals — community-verified deals, RSS feed filtered for dog products
DealNews — editorially curated deals, Pet Supplies category
Chewy — product data enrichment (images, ratings, ingredients) scraped from product pages

Filtering criteria

Every deal passes through an automated filter before appearing on the site:

Keyword relevance — must match one or more dog-related terms (dog, puppy, canine, dog food, dog harness, large breed, etc.)
Blocklist — cat food, cat litter, cat tree, and cat toy deals are excluded
Deduplication — identical URLs are deduplicated by content hash

What is excluded

Dropship and unverified third-party marketplace listings
Deals without a direct product URL
Cat and non-dog pet products
Expired listings (TTL enforced at the cache layer)

Update frequency

Raw deals — fetched from RSS feeds every 4 hours
Enriched deals — Chewy product data refreshed every 24 hours

Dog Deals earns a commission from purchases made through links on this site. This does not affect which deals we feature or how we rank them. All deals are selected by automated criteria — keyword relevance, source credibility, and deduplication — not advertiser relationships.
